Youth Center’s Summer Camp Registration: The Youth Center Summer Camp is now FULL, and we are taking Wait List youth going into 6th grade – youth going into 9th grade. The program runs Monday – Friday, from 8:00am – 5:00pm beginning on Wednesday, June 8th, and concludes on Friday, July 22nd. . The TOTAL cost for camp is $150.00. Throughout the program there are various trips, which you can pay as you choose to go,  including destinations like: Daytona Lagoon, Universal Studios, Typhoon Lagoon, to name a few. G.W. Carver Annual On-Line Auction: At 6:00pm, on Wednesday, April 27th the G.W. Carver Foundation, Chaired by County Commissioner Barbara Revels, completed its fourth online auction. ALL proceeds from this annual event are used to improve the Center and provide financial support for program needs. This year 77 items were available to bid on, that ranged from weekend stays at Hammock Resort, to “Getting Flocked” donated by Flagler County School Board member Andy Dance. Bidders had opportunities to Bowl with Flagler Schools Superintendent Jacob Oliva, Take a Boat Ride with Sherriff Manfre, or eat homemade Pizza or Lasagna made by County Commissioners Frank Meeker and George Hanns. Special Thanks to the City of Palm Coast for their donation of Golf and Tennis experiences, Flagler Beach, for providing Fishing Pier Annual Pass and Junior Life Guarding Camp, Flagler County for their Recreational donations.  Plus many local dignitaries and public officials, as well as community businesses and individuals for all their support!  At the conclusion, if all items are collected the event will raise a total of $5,555! Road To Success Program: April was a busy month for our Road To Success program!  First, and foremost, this very successful program was awarded another Grant, by our local Work Force Board, to continue the work they are doing for another four years! Special thanks to Program Director Brian Willard and Case Manager Taahira Lee for doing an outstanding job working with Flagler County “At Risk” youth to not only get their GED, but to also get jobs.  To date the program has successfully closed 70 youth, and looks forward to continuing this trend for years to come!  Congratulations to everyone involved in the super program!

 

Spotlight On Youth Talent Show: Open Auditions are set for Tuesday, May 3rd, and Wednesday, May 4th, from 5:00pm -7:00pm, in the Flagler County Youth Center. For your chance to be named “2016 Entertainer of the Year”, you MUST audition.  If you can sing, dance, play an instrument, tell jokes, or have any talent worth making the show, come and give it a try. The Show is set for June 7th, the last day of school, 7:00pm, in the Flagler Auditorium. Winners will be named in the: Elementary Division (K-5th), Middle School (6th -8th), and High School Division (9th -12th). Come one, come all, it is always a fun show with loads of Flagler Youth Talent!

Senior Scholarships: Every year the Youth Center Student Advisory Council sponsors two $500 Scholarships for senior youth that have made an impact in the organization and operation of the Flagler County Youth Center. This year the awards were presented by Brandon Seminara, Assistant Center Director, to two exceptional individuals: Najaree Johnson and Montgomery Russell. It has been indeed a pleasure working with these exceptional seniors, who will continue to be wonderful leaders, and have a bright and extraordinary future!  Congratulations Najaree & Monte!
