Hours of Operation: The Youth Center daily hours, throughout the School Year are: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 7:00pm. The building follows the school calendar. The only exception for this is when there are Special Events scheduled. The Youth Center is Closed on Saturday & Sunday. 

Road to Success Program: New to Road To Success is Work Experience.! Three current students, Jean Louise Steverson, Jayveon Williams and Kassidy Wren are all obtaining a paid Internship through the Road To Success program. Not only are these three individuals working to obtain their General Education Diploma, they are also being paid for their employment, obtaining on the job training, which hopefully will lead to full time employment. Youth Centers Student Advisory Council: Welcome Back BBQ: All are youth are invited to a FREE BBQ, compliments the Youth Centers SAC on: Tuesday, October 11th, starting at 3:00pm. Come get your Hot Dog, Hamburger, Chips and drink, and enjoy your friends, listening to music and just “Chilin”, after school!

Youth Center’s SWAT: Students Working Against Tobacco Chapter Updates: On Saturday, September 17th. A number of FCYC SWAT, led by Chair: Destiny Cole, headed to Flagler Beach to help rid the beach of cigarette butts and trash, on International Beach Clean-Up Day. It was an AWESOME day, and everyone did a super job! Now, the group is preparing for Red Ribbon Week, and the showing of the Steadfast Movie.

 

DJJ Community Garden Volunteers Needed:  The Youth Center helps sponsor the DJJ Community Garden and is in its 7th year of operation. The garden grows Fresh Vegetables and donates all food to the Food Pantry, to help feed Flagler County families I need. The garden in run by David Tibbetts, a Flagler County Master Gardner, and David is always looking for volunteers to help maintaining the garden and its surroundings. Any interested youth, in obtaining Community Service Hours, working a vegetable garden is encouraged to call David at: 386-986-2248, to volunteer.

 

FCYC Roller Rink Update: Our annual meeting was held with all current rink users. At this point we have the following rink users: Adult Roller Hockey, Adult Dek Hockey, Youth Roller Hockey, Boy’s Box Lacrosse, and Women’s Roller Derby. The rink is entering its 10th year of operation and is close to being scheduled 100% of the time. The group discussed future funding, tournaments, as well as a number of improvements, that are becoming necessary, due to it tens years of operation.  All users would also love to see the rink get under cover, by adding a roof,  to expand its use. FCYC Asst. Director, Brandon Seminara, is working with the group, to see what improvements can be accomplished.

 

FREE Steadfast Movie: October 26th, 7pm, Flagler Auditorium: To celebrate 2016 Red Ribbon Week, the Flagler County Youth Center & Focus on Flagler Coalition, are working with Stuart Marchman Act, to bring to Flagler, County the award winning film: Steadfast. This locally created film, with local youth serving as actors and actresses, introduces many issues today’s teens face. This IS a FAMILY EVENT, and anyone 10 years old and up are encouraged to attend. Growing up in today’s world is very different than it was when most adults grew up. Teen Talk Returns: Once a week, Ms. Victoria Langello, an Adolescent Behavioral Specialist from Stuart Marchman Act, conducts a rap session, for participants. This activity is offered once a week, on a voluntary basis to all youth center participants. Keep an eye out for stating date and times of this program.
