Youth Center’s Student Advisory Council
Receives Presidential Volunteer Service Awards and Named Youth Group of the Year
Flagler County Youth Center’s Student Advisory Council’s was named by the United Way Volusia-Flagler Counties: Youth Volunteer Group of the Year. Members of the Council also received the President’s Volunteer Service Award, and a thank you letter from President Obama. Council members received this well deserved recognition for their numerous community service projects, that resulted in the donation of over $5, 000, this year, to various local programs and groups in need, including: Christmas Angels, Grace Tabernacle Food Pantry, Homeward to Homebound, Flagler County Teen Court Mock Trial Team, and the George Washington Carver Foundation. The group’s accomplishments in Flagler County’s Community Volunteer Services were highlighted at the United Ways 25th Annual Outstanding Volunteers of the Year Awards, on April 19th, at the Hilton Daytona Beach Ocean Front Resort.
