Parent’s Afternoon Out: Tuesday, July 17th @ 4:00pm: Assessing Your Potential (AYP) is hosting a fun-filled, thought-provoking and informational discussion and exchange of ideas for parents of school age children. Preparing children to pass the FCAT, and discuss just what elements are necessary for successful children. Refreshments will be served. Mark your calendars now and plan to attend this very valuable meeting, to help support your child through a very complicated education process.
July Saturday Hours for Open Gym: Monthly, an attempt will be made to open the Carver Center, on Saturday’s, from 10:00am -3:00pm, at least twice a month. During the month of July, the Center will be open on both: Saturday, July 14th, & June 21st. Want to shoot some hoops, surf the internet, or apply for a job, stop in and check out these additional weekend hours.
AIM Summer Camp: AIM: Alliance of Involved Ministers has completed registration and is hosting 60 area youth daily. Pastor Henry and her staff promise to make the summer of 2012 memorable for everyone participating in this wonderful camp.
G.W. Carver Foundation & Flagler County: Help Carver Center: Thanks to the generosity of the G.W. Carver Foundation and help from the Flagler County Office of General Services, (6) new folding tables & (24 )new folding chairs were purchased to meet the needs of participants, and special events.
Center of Business Excellence Grant: The G.W. Carver Foundation & Flagler County Schools developed a partnership to design and submit an application for a grant that would help bring job training activities to the center, as early as this Fall. The program is called Road To Success, and it has been designed to meet the needs of area out of school youth, ages 16-24, and help bridge the gap to gainful employment or career track. At this time we do not know if we won this grant, but every effort has been made to give our application a good chance to be successful.
