Program Information and Hours: During the school year the Youth Center is a safe and secure drop-in program; you can relax with friends, play ping-pong or pool, watch TV, read and do homework, play PS4 games, and utilize the large computer lab. Daily hours throughout the school year are: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 7:00pm. During the summer we hosted our annual Summer Camp during the hours of 8:00am-5:30pm. The Youth Center is closed on Saturday & Sunday.
Director’s Message: What a busy month October was! We gave rewards to over 100 kids on PBS Fridays, we had over 30 kids at the Youth Center HotSpot last week at the Matanzas Football game, and the youth center has seen over 1,800 uses this month by students! November is looking to get under way with PBS Friday at the Youth Center on the first of the month! We will also be hosting SAC meetings on November 12th and 14th and SWAT meetings on November 12th and 18th as well as the Flagler Youth Coalition Meeting on November 27! We would also like to welcome Micheal Bevaqcua, from the Boys and Girls Club, and the Keystone Program to the Youth Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays!
Student Advisory Council: The SAC will meet on Tuesday November 12th and Thursday November 14th this month. Any student wishing to join needs to contact Mr. Butler via email at [email protected]
Road to Success Program: 218 GEDs earned to date, 97% success rate. Students are doing internships at Flagler Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, Flagler Youth Center and FTI’s Extended day program. This month we welcomed our new teacher, Jonathan Gore and wished Linda Askew farewell, as she retired. RTS also celebrated birthdays for teacher Danielle Junior and student’s Austin, Tyler and Dakota. Workshops completed this month were. Mock-interviewing series, Wells Fargo banking & financials, graduation pictures, and students completed graduation pictures, Sayskids life skills workshop, and Flagler Technical Institute conducted a program overview. Students enjoyed a field trip to Marineland and did the behind the scenes tour and were able to play with the dolphins. Next month we are scheduled to have field trips to Career Source Flagler Volusia, provide First Aid & CPR certification and Food Handlers Safe Serve Certification.
